Golf Mk4 Passenger Door Wont Lock

Ok first off the title.

Golf mk4 passenger door wont lock.

A bit strange i know but after many many hours of research i found that several different word combos gave different results so tried to make it as generic as possible. All doors lock with the fob or door switch except passenger door. The door lock works in only one direction. Some other details passenger door can be opened with the door handle just fine the door lock switch seems to work fine as it will lock the other 3 doors.

If this happens the problem is with the remote. The light on the door switch no longer lights up. Seems to be a common problem. I had this recently and have collected a lot of good info and fixes.
